Visited on 7th January, table for 4 booked for 20:30, seated at 20:45? Ordered 2 pints of coke at £3.60 a glass and no way were they pints so look out for that.

Food was okay, nothing special, have had much better for 50% to 70% of the charged prices. Would I go again...NO.....would I recommend it.....NO.....value for money......NO......seating.......you certainly get to know the natives. All in all £115 for 4 starters, 4 small mains, 2 cokes, 1 water and 1 small Rose....work it out for yourselves.

Control freak woman greeting at the bar has the charisma of an angry parrot as she squawks "Hello sir" 3 times in as many breaths while I try to settle my 15 month old. Nice food but will not go back there as that greeting has stuck as the memory of the day. The owner should put someone greeting that won't offend his customers.

Party of 8 of us arrived to find the more private enclosed area we had requested at the time of booking had been given to another party. We are all proffessional people in our fortys but were told in no uncertain times that we were making too much noice. We were enjoying ourselves and having a laugh but no more than that and it was 9pm Saturday night. They should not take large party bookings if they expect everyone to sit in pairs holding hands and wispering sweet nothings. We had a similar experience with their other resaurant down the road. The Lion and as it happens was the same duty manager that upset us. We will never return to either restaurant and now visit the Dog and Gun at Terling or Sans in Mulsham st Chelmsford every week where we receive great, curteous service and are not expected to sit wispering to each other.

We'll be back!

This was our first visit to the Blue Strawberry, we were pleasantly surprised by the choice of dishes for a fixed price mid week menu. The food was very nice, portion size were very generous (couldn't clear our plates) and all the dishes were well presented. We liked the quaint, homely surroundings. Excellent value, friendly staff - we will definitely return and recommend!

ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO VISIT THE BLUE STRAWBERRY BUT THIS TIME FOUND SERVICE EFFICIENT (TO A POINT) BUT NOT VERY FRIENDLY. AFTER ASKING FOR 2 REFILLS OF BLACK COFFEE WHICH WE RECEIVED IN NEW CUPS WE FOUND THE COST OF THESE REFILLS WAS AN EXTRA £6. WE WERE TOLD AFTER THE BILL ARRIVED THAT YOU CANNOT HAVE REFILLS OF BLACK COFFEE EXCEPT IF YOU HAVE A CAFFITIERE. WHY WERE WE NOT OFFERED THIS ? ARE STANDARDS SLIPPING?
