Great food and service
Have been here a few times with my partner and never had a bad meal. It is a little cramped but food is good and never been cold like some reviews have said. Service has always been good, when I wished to change the rice to roast potatoes on the set menu they did this with no problems. They have a man on the guitar at weekends, not playing greek music but a nice touch. I would recommend this restaurant to friends and will be going back.
Greek Tragedy!
The food and service is awful, and staff very rude (especially the owner). If you dare to complain about the slow service and cold food like we did then expect to be treated with contempt. I can't say we were made to feel like valued customers. There is nothing very Greek about this place, certainly not the music. More like a Greek Fawlty Towers than a welcoming atmosphere. Also not very clean and a bit claustrophobic. If you look outside at the state of the back of the restuarant (which we only noticed when leaving) you probably wouldn't want to go inside. It looks like Leigh tip! Definitely not the best or friendliest restaurant we have been to in the area.
Akropolis, a great restaurant
We've been a few times now to the Akrpolis and never been disappointed, we've tried the meze and many other things from the menu, great food, plenty of it. you need to be very hungry to go here. We've been with different friends of all ages and children and always had a fantastic evening The resident guitar player is very good , he plays a variety of songs and adds to the atmosphere. Good service although i do like to add my own tip rather than pay a service charge. wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone.
ST.VALENTINES DAY ROMANCE
Wow !! I took my girlfriend to The Akropolis Restaurant on St.Valentines Day,feeling quite apprehensive as I've never really been "into" Greek food.I need not have worried. My girlfriend had taramasalata to start,I had the whitebait & we shared a basket of warm pitta bread (which didnt seem to cool down !!).The starters were filling enough but then we had our main course of Moussaka (one beef & one veggie) which was served up with a bowl of Greek salad & feta cheese each. The food was superb and we both struggled to finish. Now I love my food but after eventually clearing the plate we both looked at each other as if to say "Do we really want to even look at the dessert menu ??".The service was very good and the overall atmosphere was very relaxed. We will definately be going back to The Akropolis but next time we might just skip lunch completely so we can actually see what the dessert menu looks like !!
A Trojan Horse!
Greek restaurant in name only....atmosphere on the saturday night we went was bizarre...cramped layout...loud and un-necessary guitar player raking out an odd mixture of tunes from renditons of coldplay to oasis!! the meze we all went for was pretty good, at the end they stapled onto the bill an OPTIONAL 10% service charge which always irritates me..very unlikely i would go back
