WE visited the Whitmore Arms today and the portion sizes have greatly reduced since our last visit we have been going to the pub for food several times and enjoyed our meals

firstly i rang restaurant on thursday night to book a table to be told that this could not be done straight away and they took my number for someone to ring me back friday but nobody rang i then rang again this morning 23rd jan 2016 to book a table

when we arrived there were two waitress moaning about restaurant layout which was not very good for us to sit and hear this going on someone then said from down stairs stop moaning .

WE then got our food which was nice but the main course was on large plates but smaller portions one bowl of chips came up and a bowl of peas we then spoke to the waitress and asked where our other portion of chips was and she said the portion that we got was for two people which was clearly not right as we noticed another table got more chips for one portion when the bill came up surprise we were charged for two portions we spoke to the lady manager and expressed our feelings that the portions had clearly been reduced she went to see the chef and we were told that the portions had not been reduced but they were bigger plates then our bill was reduce by one of our starters and that she would bring it up in the meeting after they have closed NOT HAPPY CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE USED THIS RESTURANT PUB FOR MANY YEARS

The food itself was good, if a little expensive. However we were made to feel unwelcome due to the fact that we had 2 children in our party. Everything was fine until we finished our meal and tried to get a drink in the gardens. Needless to say, we all left without a drink and vowed never to return.

This pub is an excellent and affordable place in the heart of Thurrock and well deserved of the awards it has collected along the way!

The food is excellent and very affordable, the service is great and the atmosphere is very pleasant.

Try it...you will not be disappointed!

Having been there 5 ou 6 times now, i have seen consistency and dedication from all the staff and the food served.

I will be back and will be reccomending it!

Nothing to say other than that the evening was perfect in almost every way. Fantastic food and the service was second to none. The owners made us feel extremely welcome, taking time to ask what we were celebrating. Can't wait for my next visit and would recommend to anyone. Shame about the poor review before that brought the rating of the pub down.
