Owners Darran & Caroline Lingley are happy to uphold the inn's long and fine tradition of hospitality, quality and service. Affable hosts, they and their friendly staff make all their guests feel most welcome.

The menu is a happy mix of modern food and traditional values and makes use of only the freshest ingredients and local produce. All food is home-cooked and freshly prepared, including the delicious breads. All the meat is cured and fish smoked on the premises.

With fishing boats bobbing only feet from the front door their customers expect the freshest of fish and they are not be disappointed. The hotel has a nautical flavour throughout and the kitchen where Chris Oakley has been making the most of all the fresh fish for over twenty years is the heart of the operation.

The two restaurants the Harbourside and The Half Penny Pier cater for every taste and every pocket and the ground floor Bar serves the best coffee in Harwich. The Harbourside restaurant, with its splendid panoramic views, has gained a well deserved reputation as one of the country's premier seafood restaurants.

The Pier also offer facilities for accommodation, conferences, weddings (holding a civil licence) and sailing days. The Pier, part of the Milsoms group also run the award winning Milsoms and Le Talbooth.
