What a great asset to the country pub collection. great service, superb home cooked food,massive menu, large portions and good value for money. how anyone can put this place down is unreal.comments before must be hungry horse lovers! I have personally seen them go tooth & nail to accomodate everyone. will definately keep returning and recommending.

After taking my in-laws to this pub after seeing a voucher in the local paper, I left feeling irritated buy the unhelpful rude staff.

The starters were excellent, I have no complaints there. But the vegetables for the main meal came ten minutes after being plated up and I had to ask for them twice. When they did arrive we had either eaten our mains or they were slightly cold and the vegetables were Raw. When I advised the waitress she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off.

We then had trouble asking for desserts as the waitress was either in conversation with one of the male patrons or talking on her mobile phone.

When it came to paying the bill, I had a two for one main meal voucher.We had six main meals and only one was by one get one free, which is not stated on the voucher. The advert stated on voucher per table which would suggest each couple receives the offer... this is not the case.

This is the second time I have had bad service in this pub in the last six months.... and I am a local.

Took family members down from Scotland for lunch having enjoyed good fare in the past, but such a disappointment. Restaurant was only half full so not overly busy, but waited 50 mins for starter and another 40 mins for main meal. Most meals were fine, although gravy covering everthing including the fried potatoes, but Lamb steaks were tough and overpriced. Wont be returning anytime soon.

First time we have visited this pub/restaurant. Welcomed by manager and served drinks straight away. Ate in the restaurant which did seem to lack atmosphere but was popular. The bar area was also busy with diners - a good sign. Excellent menu, wide choice, good efficient service and good value for money. Will definitely visit again.

I booked a table 2 weeks ahead but the restaurant phoned me 2 days before to give my table to a disabled party. Then they phoned back to say I could have my table. Then they phoned again to say I couldn't have it. Apparently I should not have been promised table 8 (nice round one) in the first place as it is kept for disabled guests. Shame they never told me when I booked it. Obvious I will never go in future.
