Grated potato was over cooked, rock hard and so salty both husband and myself could not eat. Owner/manageress response was they don’t normally get complaints and if we had informed them while eating they could had done something about it, they wasn’t interested in our views and seemed annoyed we had mentioned issues.

The garden was full, with entertainment for the children being well used. I had the cod which was huge, the batter crisp and the hand cut chips were to die for. My husband had the liver and bacon and was swayed to this by the bubble and squeak. We did have to wait but this was expected by how busy it was, not that we were worried as we enjoyed the sun. I would thoroughly reccomend this as a summer destination pub, specially if you have children.

Never like seeing an empty car-park, and wasn't surprised to find on entering that we were the only diners - in fact the only customers! Perhaps we were unlucky to go there on an obviously quiet night - but the food was only average at best. Asparagus on a slice of crusty white toast was a disappointment, and the main course was no improvement - sadly when you hear a microwave "ping" 2 minutes before you are served piping hot vegetables, the obvious connection is made! My partners risotto was served with a side salad that showed no imagination at all. On the plus side the young lady doing service could not be faulted - but with a 90% empty restaurant she wasn't exactly rushed off her feet.As I have said, perhaps we were unlucky - but we won't be returning.

We have lived in the Ongar area for the past 13 years and unfortunately for us this was only our first visit to the Fox & Goose.

We are returning again next Sunday to celebrate Fathers Day and my Birthday.

I shall be recommending your establishment to my friends, relations and work colleagues in Local Government.

Therefore, it was a lovely meal, and we really couldn't fault any of it. It really made it a lovely Christmas Day for us

We will certainly come back and will recommend it to our friends
