Received a warm welcome but that's as far as the it went. The bar furnishings were very shabby, maximum of only eight customers total in the bar and restaurant throughout the whole saturday night. There was no atmosphere whatsoever. Steak and 4 potatoes with no vegetables x 2 came to £33+ We will not be going back.

None of the staff came to us to explain what had happened while we were waiting and we were very cross about the whole situation. The deserts however were very nice but again they gave my 6 year old niece vanilla instead of chocolate, Another example that they need to sort out their staff as they seem to need more training, However the quickly recovered the problem and we got a free dessert and meal for my niece. However the overall service was appalling and we shall not be returning, It is a shame as the food is nice but the service has let the restaurant down.

We felt welcome immediately and were looked after extremely well by Dora.
We had outstanding meals cooked by Augustas which had fantastic taste and was a pleasure to eat.
We look forward now to going back and enjoying more food and atmosphere.
Well done and well worth commenting on.

It is so serious that it has been taken to the next level. The owners have tried to hush this up but its too important as a lady in her 80's and an 8 yr old girl were evidently involved. Somebody could've died.
Find out what the situation is before you go.

In between ordering and getting our meal we were asked if we had ordered coffee and whether we wanted our desserts now! Front of house was a bit of a shambles - very well meaning but it really isn't the customers problem that you're short staffed! The beef required a strong set of teeth and a sharper knife than was provided. However the veg was all ok. Would pop in for a beer but wouldnt eat in there again.

I must comment on the great waitress. She was friendly, very attentive and knows customer service. Shame that the kitchen have not been trained so well. Our first course was pate. It was OK. Main course Liver and bacon with mash, and pork belly. The liver was very overcooked and the mash dry! the pork belly was OK but not great. I ordered cheesecake for dessert £4.25. It had previously been frozen and was wet mush. The base was stale and watery. It was inedible and was sent back by our lovely waitress, who then very kindly took the coffees off the bill. The pub has a roaring fire so I rate ambience 8/10, service 10/10. value, food, etc etc 5/10. We would never go back.

I have been to this restaurant many times and i cannot fault it in any way. Dora and augustas and there staff make you feel like your part of there family.Augustas is the chef, the food is cooked to perfection and tastes delicious.

We have had many celebrations here and have just booked my daughters 32st birthday meal here. I do not find it expensive, and in fact they have a set menu on a friday evening that is only 12.95 per person and is a 3 course. I have reccomended this restaurant to many of my friends and family, they have tried it and agree with me and have been back again and again.

I would reccomend to everyone. I would reccomend a jug of sangria, which is amazing if you have had it in spain, and doras home made white chocolate cheesecake is to die for. if you want to go for a meal, and not sure where to go, i strongly reccomend you try chiquitas, you will return again and again.

The starters were excellent, I have no complaints there. But the vegetables for the main meal came ten minutes after being plated up and I had to ask for them twice. When they did arrive we had either eaten our mains or they were slightly cold and the vegetables were Raw. When I advised the waitress she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off.

We then had trouble asking for desserts as the waitress was either in conversation with one of the male patrons or talking on her mobile phone.

When it came to paying the bill, I had a two for one main meal voucher. We had six main meals and only one was by one get one free, which is not stated on the voucher. The advert stated on voucher per table which would suggest each couple receives the offer... this is not the case.

This is the second time I have had bad service in this pub in the last six months.... and I am a local.

Restaurant was only half full so not overly busy, but waited 50 mins for starter and another 40 mins for main meal. Most meals were fine, although gravy covering everthing including the fried potatoes, but Lamb steaks were tough and overpriced. Wont be returning anytime soon.

From a truly wonderful, intimate ambience, to a superb extensive and reasonably priced wine list, I have to say it's one of my favourite places to eat in Essex. The pies and steak are to die for, and it wouldn't be right to leave without finishing off with the great cheese board and a glass of vintage port from their comprehensive selection. Service is attentive but not pushy, and while heavily pregnant with twins, I didn't feel too embarassed about asking for a more substantial chair! Can't wait to go back.

The person on reception was so rude when i asked for directions to the brekfast area, it was disgraceful, i could not believe what i was hearing. After the 'what' and the threatening stare he said 'round corner'. It was a thug on reception and this person should not be on 'front duties' at a hotel like this. I thought at that time it was the best restaurant not only in Southend but possible in all of Essex. However, subsequent visits have not been to the same standard and I'm afraid the food but in particular the service has dropped dramatically. I am especially disappointed that the last three visits the same menu has been offered to me and quite frankly this is tired. I won't be going again in a hurry as on the last occasion I was short changed by the waiter who I found to be very push and a bit too personal. This is a shame as the young waiter who served us the first time we went there was first class as was the food.

A quirky entrance with a large sitting area for lunchtime teas await you. To your right is the selection of lunchtime cakes encased in glass. They look very nice indeed, but I am yet to have tasted these. Towards the back of this area, the restaurant suddenly appears and opens up. There is also a room downstairs for busy evenings or for special occasions where you can book the room for yourself. I have now eaten twice at San Fairie Ann and can definitely say that it is the best restaurant I have visited in Essex. I have eaten once in the main restaurant and once downstairs when we booked the area specially. The food is simply excellent. I won't bore you too much, but needless to say I had a venison for mains the first time I came here and it is one of the best meat dinners I have ever had. I can't tell you how good it was. Overall service is very good, although the second time I went there, there was a waiter who was a bit pushy. Everyone else is great though.

Seriously, if you are reading reviews on this website because you are trying to decide where to go; try this place out, and get the venison if it is on the menu.

Although we turned up 40mins late (due to the queue to get in) for our table, the staff where still very happy 2 help and had saved our table for us. We where promptly served for drinks, and then given enough time to choose for the extensive menu, before the waiter came over again. Our starters turned up and the portions where very generous and very tasty, the mains swiftly followed and where also very tasty and the portions very good! We found the staff very frendly and would go again. AAA****

The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The restaurant was clean and airy but lacked some atmosphere, I think if I went again I would eat in the bar area which had a little more atmosphere. The food was good for a pub and the fish went down well. However, it was a little bit expensive, in my opinion. All in all, nice for lunch, would probably go back for a pub lunch.

Unfortunatly Southend isnt renowned for its selection of fine dining restaurants, so some people may not be used to a certain level of service! The food at Fleur De Provence is of a very high quality, they have a good wine list, and regularly change the menu to seasonal foods and they look after you, but its not cheap! certainly not 1/10! If however you want your TGI Fidays type of meal then this isnt the place.

Had dinner there last weekend and it was the worst eating out experience our family has ever had. The owner was ignorant, RUDE and offensive and the food could not even be described as average. Avoid this restraunt at all costs!!! Hideous place!!!
