We went there for a meal one evening, we were seated and sat there for a quarter of an hour, no one brought menus or asked if we wanted a drink so we did the right thing and walked out, this has also happend to friends of mine will not be going back to this cafe. I have to leave a rating to have this put on the website but my score would be nil.

Walking in off of the London road feels like stepping into a beachside cafe/bar in Portugal. Great welcome, authentic food and brilliant atmosphere. The food is always good and the service always relaxed. Probably not the place to go if you're in a hurry but who's in a hurry on holiday!

I recommended opicado to my brothers and their partners for the special madeira evening. My husband and I have been regulars over the years and although at times service has been slow,we were happy to wait and the food was of a good standard. Last night as not only the service was non existent,the food was not fit for humans,the maize was deep fried and soggy in the middle and mashy,the chips were cold and not cooked enough the salad could be better presented by a five year old,the beef skewers had big chunks and of poor quality meat. We had to go to the bar to get our drinks several times and desert took so long that we left without it. We will never go there again.They need to get their act together and cook food fit for human consuption. Please bring back the "Dad"

We went for a party of 12 on a saturday and unfortunatley didn't went the way we were expecting!!!
Poor service as we had to ask for the drinks many times... The food took more than one hour to came to our table and even though after all that time waiting just the food for the children came and then when the plates were cleared from children our food arrived finally... My king prawns were to spicy so had to ask for another ones and when come again my friens had finished eating all ready ! not a pleasant night at all!!!

We went mid week when the restaurant was fairly empty but the wecome was warm and the food was excellent. We will definately be coming back again as it was great value for money and within walking distance of home which is even better!
