Terrible service - the worst!
Food was full of flavour and definitely one of the better curries in the area although not the best.
The flavour was not lost to the heat of the spices as happens in many curry houses.
However, the whole experience was ruined by the total lack of customer service.
We waited at the bar for a table for about 15 minutes before being asked if we wanted a drink. The staff did not seem to notice that my wife was blind as the waiter disappeared ahead while "leading us" to our table.
We were being asked how many popadoms we wanted before we had even sat down. We then waited 45 minutes before anyone took our order. Once served no-one came to check if we were OK or if the food was to our satisfaction. No-one asked even when we were paying the bill!
I had to tell the waiter to clear our table..... twice.
The worst service I have experienced for a long time.
good food
for a comfortable night out and a more tasty menu this local restaurant is tops.
Spices Hornchurch
We dine here regularly and have always been very happy with the standard and quality of the food. If you are looking for 'burn a hole in your throat' curries, then look elsewhere, the quisine is far more delicate than that - King Prawn or Chicken Shaslicks just has to be the very best anywhere. Since new management took over they have started offering weekly specials to the menu which are well worth experimenting with. Deserts are out of the freezer although the sorbets are refreshing.
FOOD
FOOD WAS TASTELESS, KORMA LOOKED LIKE AND SMELT LIKE SEMELINA/CUSTARD AND LAMB DISH LOOKED LIKE WEETABIX, NO FLAVOURS WHAT SO EVER. AWFUL EXPERIANCE.
SPICES
I used to think Spices was the best indian restaurant around. Recently the past 2 times of going there the service has been slow and the food poor. It has really gone down hill and I would not recommend this as the best indian in this area.
