1st Class
We chose the Red Lion to entertain our guests after our sons Christening in May, having eaten here several times before, and always been very pleased.
We were not disapointed! we were well looked after by David and Ian both in helping with arrangements and on the day. We enjoyed a perfect day, and many of our guests have since commented on what a good time they had, the setting was beautiful, the food delicious, and the service first class, nothing was too much trouble. We are now looking forward to our next visit to this wonderful pub.
Excellent place to stay
Firstly, it's sad that the reveiew below mine entitled 'Poor' was able to be posted as it is entirely untrue. Also not very good at spelling (efeninate?)
Me, my wife and two friends stayed here lst month and it couldn't have been a better treat. Yes the barman is camp but that adds to the fun of it. He is total entertainment and the place wouldn't be the same without him there. I hear that between the landlord and his partner they have totally rejuvenated the pub. I can see why.
The food choice is excellent and the rib eye steak I ordered was perfection which is unusual for pub food.
The rooms are smartly decorated with slightly different colour themes. The two we used between us were roomy, clean and smart.
We are all going back in July for a reunion. I couldn't think of a better place to stay.

POOR
Visited for a lunch time meal in June 2010. Had to sit quite near the bar. Order taken by a young boy who didn't look old enough to be working there. When food arrived mine was not what I'd ordered. Given salad instead of veg. Complained and told that veg would be provided. By time this arrived had finished rest of main course.
Half way through meal any ambience totally ruined by load mouthed effeninate man behind bar - possibly owner - who insisted in shouting his conversation across the pub.
Food itself wasn't bad but let down by incompetent service leading to the feeling that it wasn;t worth the money.
Looking Forward to my Visit
I am really looking forward to my visit to "The Red Lion" So put the "Chardonnay" in to chill, Love to all, Bobby. XX
Lovely place
My wife and I stayed at the Red Lion recently and had THE best time. It was part of our honeymoon and the landlords made us feel so welcome. We were met in the carpark and guided to our beautifully decorated room, and given a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine to celebrate our new life together. We then spent a great evening in the cosy bar, listening to the superb band playing that night. I had the best steak I have ever eaten and the rest of the food was top quality too. A really friendly place in the most beautiful village. Not to be missed !
