Set in its own delightful surroundings, with a well equipped marquee, 'The Lodge' can be used for small conferences, private parties, weddings, etc. It has a most attractive, fully licensed bar and 70 seater restaurant, where guests can enjoy traditional English food or sample from the extensive bar menu.

Never again
After visiting this establisment many times in the past and being well pleased with the food and service, on the 4th November 2014, we asked for the aberdeen angus beefburger and chips, having just had major stomach surgery, I asked for a plain burger without dressings or salad, we were presented with, just a cheap burger in a bun that obviously been pre-frozen, not chips, but some reheated potatoe wedges that did not taste very nice at all, by the way we left them all on the plate. very dissapointed and will not be going back again. which is a great pity, because we had always enjoyed the food presented to us before this.

NAVI Tribute act6th Sept 2012
Went to see Navi the No1 tribute act to Michael Jackson in the world.
Booked in advance a table for 7, Food was not bad and the overall value for a act and meal was not bad at £16.50.
Here's the bad bit, We were seated behind a wall in the conservatory area and could only see him though a side window, MY mother is in a wheelchair so when I explained that we could not see the stage if you could call it that, I was told the acts move around the whole area. Once the act started this was not the case, I complained again about the fact that we were seated without a view and that the table should have not been sold, We was told that we could move to a better position, but i explained then we would be moving in front of the other tables in the conservatory area and blocking their view and also then Navi (MJ) would not be able to get in this area.
Totally no help from the serving lady and this totally spoilt our night,
I would never recommend going to see a tribute act there again as this is not a venue big enough. A total disappointment.
Do not waste your money, Shame they shut Castaway's much better staff, venue ect. I atcually felt sorry for Navi as this must have been such a comedown for him, I would not be happy with his management booking such a stupid venue like this.
Restaurant Experience
Previous Carvery Visits were ok, back for birthday meals celebration ( from the more expensive menu)
1.Overcharged at the bar note >
(you pay first then take a seat)
Bar Staff were asked to check the bill and failed to
spot the overcharge, then when the maths finally
clicked a refund was made, however this should have
never happened and was embarassing.
2.A " medium to well cooked steak special was ordered
when meal arrived the steak was not completly cooked
parts of it were cleary uncooked.
Same Bar Staff asked why the steak was not cooked
she took the meal into the kitchen, brought it back
and said " The Chef said this is how it comes !!!!
Not what I wanted to hear,I told the bar Staff to
take the meal back remove the steak and
wrap it up in silver foil "TELL THE CHEF THE DOG
WILL HAVE IT LATER"
My advice stick to a restaurant where you pay at the
end, you generally recieve a better service.
variable
We go here often to use the garden with the kids, the food is cheap and ok for lunch. Last time we were there they had a serious problem with wasps. it was so bad we had to move inside.
We haven't been back since
Shocking
shocking, great for kids? I don't think so, bouncy castle yes, vulgar drunk yobs swearing at the bar, no thank you. Carvery was truly awful! NEVER AGAIN
