I scanned the reviews before booking. So glad I decided to ignore some bad comments as suggested by one of the good reviews. I understand that these reviews were pre the new owners who have only been there a couple of months or so. We had a lovely Sunday lunch (on 9/7/17) probably the most tasty I have had in a long while, with generous helpings of perfectly cooked roast, served with delicious sauces/gravies. If you have room, the deserts are good too! The staff were very friendly, welcoming and attentive. I would certainly recommend this cosy pub.

Can't believe these reviewers went to the same venue as myself & 3 friends on Sunday 18 November 2012! Good service & food at reasonable prices! Only problem I've encountered is the fact that I can't get direct access to their website www.thecrownsandon.co.uk but can only find details on other sites such as yours.
Some mention is made of change of owners but exactly when I can't tell but certainly no one in attendance on the 18 Nov was anything but polite & cheerful!

Apparently according to there website they are a friendly, welcoming pub

"Come and visit the newly revamped Crown at Sandon Green where traditional values and a warm welcome make your visit one to remember".

Don't believe this tripe.

Went there once and enjoyed it, went then twice and will never go back. For a pub that has a restaurant surely they can handle a table of 14 and still serve other customers ???

Answer no to that. The guy behind the bar didn't have a clue and the girl looked lost. After waiting 15 mins at the bar to be served drinks and try and get a table to have some of their

"delicious fresh home cooked food with friendly service.  Our team are passionate about the food we put on your table"

(only to have someone else be served first) I walked out.

This pub is awful and the site of drunks outside isn't very welcoming, stay away as its not a place for normal families ( or people for that matter)

GO TO THE GRIFFIN IN DANBURY.1000 times better

After a 45 minute wait for our food when it arrived all 3 meals were disgusting and 2 were uneatable. We politely complained, not wanting to drwa attention to ourselves. Big mistake!! The Landlady told us - in no uncertain terms to pay up, leave and never come back, and told us to complain to whoever we liked she didn't give a f..k!!

Now, we a 3 ladies in our 60's and have never been spoken to in that manner in all of our lives. The most humiliating experience ever. Never ever go back again.
