We had a family celebration at this restaurant last night 10/6. I wish we had never bothered the service was absolutely attrocious. We had to wait over an hour to get food then cleared the table ourselves, and had to chase for the children to get their ice cream. It was so bad that the adults did not bother to have a dessert as we could not be bothered to wait another hour. It was probably the worst restaurant I have ever eaten in and I have been to many. We had one drink and no one came over and asked us if the food was ok or if we wanted more drinks. The management need to get to grips with the place.

My family and I recently went here for Saturday night dinner. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive and by 9.00 p.m. we were still waiting for our food, we literally had to ask where it was, when it arrived it was luke warm. The service was really bad, two young girls and a boy. All in all I was very disappointed with my booking and to be honest I would have got better service/food had I gone to the Harvester for less than half the price that we paid.

Over priced and disappointed with food

We were recommended the White Horse and so came here for a special occasion. The restaurant is smartly decorated and has an expensive look and I have to say the waitress staff are very polite.... that's about as far as it goes though. The duck starter I had was tasty but the portion was equivalent to what you could scrape out of a duck spring roll - small and shredded into miniscule pieces to make it look more. In contrast my husband's portion of nachos was huge. My husband ordered a "special" chicken dish which was priced quite high for something which came up smothered in what appeared to be something straight out of a jar. I had a burger which was nicely flavoured but I'd had better. Both dinners were on big plates with lots of space and the chip portions were small. They forgot my side order of mushrooms, which when they arrived were definitely out of a tin and warmed up. My son wanted a children's macaroni cheese, and this was penne with a white sauce on it (children do know the difference don't they!). My highlight was the cheesecake, which was delicious, but my husband's waffle was so overcooked it was black inside and he couldn't cut through it. We sent it back and said we wouldn't pay for it. We had to ask for condiments with our dinners and also cutlery each time they took plates away. Given the meal came to over £70.00 for two of us and a four year old who ate one thing, with one alcoholic drink each and a coke, I feel it was very overpriced for what you got. It certainly didn't live up to expectation given the amount of people that had raved about it. Strangely as the evening went on portions seemed to be getting bigger on peoples' plates - so we felt a little hard done by. Whether this has something to do with the fact that we were promptly told once we sat down that they were under new management, maybe..It's a shame, as it came with good recommendation, but if it is under new management, then they need to take a leaf out of the old management's book........ We certainly won't be rushing back.

When we arrived we were to find our table was not set properly (no glasses and cuttlery missing). The starter and the main were both OK (nothing special, more like mass production food). The Tiramissu dessert however was terrible...it did not resemble any thing like a tiramissu; a mass production pastry case with coffee filling and aerosol squirted cream -- it was a disgrace. The waitress's were completely oblivious to the detail and that anything was wrong. I would like this pub / restaurant to be a success but unfortunately it seriously under delivers!

My self and family have been to this pub a few times now and I can say it is lovely. The staff are friendly and provide good service, the garden is great for the kids as it has a variety of good play equipment in a closed off area, and the food is loveley, both in the restaurant and pub garden. I especially like the curries, as the meat is tender, perfect.
It's a good place to meet up with friends and family as it caters for everyone. Parking easy too, over all excellant. Have recommended it to other people, how ever most people know of it already!
