My girl friend and I really love to eat here, the place is just so warm and welcoming. The food is fantastic and we can always be sure of a high standard every time. We have decided to make this our regualar night out.

Went for a meal Saturday afternoon and was really pleased. Have only previously been here for evening drinks so was expecting food to be a little like Yates or Lakota / Edwards. But it is much much nicer than any other bar restaurant in Chelmsford - although also much more expensive!

The food was sub-standard for such a well publicized venue.
The chips were cold, the panini was dry and my grandaughters burger was dry.

All in all I would not recommend the Waterfront Place for eating.

Fantastic food in a lovely country pub.

I had been to The Alma years ago and was very happy with the food and service. On this occasion I was disappointed. The service was poor, we felt an irritance to the staff who didn't ask us how our food was. We had Prawn Cocktail which had no taste to it, the salad was a limp leaf and the chef had poorly chopped some dill and buttered it onto bread. Why? The roast was appalling, meat tough, vegetables lacking taste and the colour of freshness. Roast potatoes were burnt and soggy. I would advise against going here,a shame as a time now long gone ago this restaurant had quality food.

Superb food and beer but the loud, thoroughly unpleasant, dated music was the worst imaginable. Worse than supermarkets or hotel lifts. I would have loved to stay for a sweet and another pint but my ears would have tried to shut off the blood flow to my brain. If you are under eighty you probably won't like it.

Not you're normal pasta house but a good take on Italian food. The service was excellent, the food was was very good and portion size value for money. The wine which included bubbles was nice and tasted as was ordered. We even had a fat mother with three kids who was obviously related to the ownwers eating pizza in the restaurant, how authentic. Enjoy the food, look past the fat mama

stylish decor, good menu & good food & good service, plus nice bar for drink before & after meal.
Been there numerous times & never had a bad meal.
(Also pizzeria downstairs is nice for an informal meal or if you have children)

The pub is now under new ownership and I was pleasently surprised with the well cooked simple food (cod and chips for me and a yummy looking 'Duck pleatter' for my guest)
Worth the drive out and after chatting with the owner I would imagine this is a place to keep your eye on for the future
