I join the many disapointed ex customers of the Waterfront place. Once you have been, you won't go back I assure you. 20 of us went in December for Christmas and it was just awful. It started badly with no pre dinner drinks receiption which when I questioned it in the bar was sharply told "the bucks fiz is on the table..!" Thats not a pre drinks receiption. Anyway, food was tepid and tasteless, service was rushed and by stressed out kids, entertainment was ok until one speaker packed up and you danced in time with who was around you not the music...! Complaining is pointless as it falls on deaf ears. Won't be going back and it's a shame, if they don't buck their ideas up they will be in trouble. This is an unforgiving ecconomic down turn, get your act together Waterfront!

Wow hadnt been here for ages and it was such a shock- upstairs is now a nursery play area and downstairs for lunch was like a motorway service station- nice staff and food but expensive and ambience is more for a burger and chips.

A group of 10 of us went to the Waterfront Place on Fri 4th Dec for one of the Xmas Party nights. Having been to a party night about 5 years ago and subsequently eaten in the restaurnt and pizza grill, we were all looking forward to a great food, great entertainment and great service. The only good thing about it was the company.
The pre dinner drinks were on our table and not pre dinner at all - had clearly been sitting there for some time, consequently warm and the bucks had lost its fizz!! The red wine included was ok but the white wine was terrible, unchilled and unpalatable.
All of the food without exception was terrible - although complaints were made at the time, nothing was done. Coffee wasn't served but nor were we made aware that it was on a table for us to serve ourselves.
I have since emailed a formal complaint and have yet to recieve a reply.
This Party night was £45 / head for non existant pre dinner drinks, 3 courses of inedible food, and half a bottle of wine per person, which again most was undrinkable, oh yes and the disco which actually was the saving grace.
What a terrible decline for a place that used to be one of the great eating places in Chelmsford.
DO NOT EVEN THINK OF GOING THERE!!!

After late night shopping we thought it would be nice to round off the evening with a meal nothing fancy just convenient so after trying Prezzo (Full) and Loch Fyne (Also Full)we drove round to Waterfront Place only to be confronted with an empty car park (Suspicious)but thought maybe as it was only 7.30 we were ahead of the rush? How wrong were we!
We followed a table of 4 and by the time we left a total of 12 people had visited.
The staff were miserable,Zero atmosphere and the food was average apart from my Sea Bass which in spite of the statement on the menu saying all the Fish was fresh? looked, smelt and tasted as if it had been hanging around for a week! Naturally i refrained from eating it.
This used to be a fantastic restaurant and hard to believe that it has sunk to such depths!

This used to be really nice (3 years ago...) good food and good staff. Now it has really gone downmarket the food and service really don't do justice to what is a great location. Somebody has obviously taken it over and ruined it with no busness plan.

Stay away and don't get mugged!
