The Windmill Tavern stands in the centre of the village of East Hanningfield.

Built towards the end of the 17th century the Windmill offers a traditional menu, using mainly local produce and game when available.

The restaurant is open Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtimes, when we offer a traditional roast dinner for £6.95 for one course in addition to our daily specials.

sunday lunch, 1 tiny yorkshire, poor selection of veg. lamb covered in fat. dessert board with 6 items, after ordering where told 3 out of the 6 unavailable! Some of our party had had a very good meal earlier in the year but after this experience none of us will be returning. Waiter/barman very apologetic, we felt very embarrassed for him.

The creamy garlic mushrooms had no hint of garlic; the ribeye steak tower with mash had no tower or mash. My husband threw the lot up on the way home - the second time in succession this has happened, despite an alleged, but invisible, refurbishment and a new menu between this and our previous visit, about a year ago. The service was very slow and the barmaid was definitely not employed for her intellect or sparkling personality. Despite this being our local pub, we will not be going there again.
