After an extensive renovation, The Headley opened its doors again in February 2007 and has been attracting visitors who wish to enjoy either a delicious meal in the restaurant or relax in the comfortable surroundings of the bar area.

Owned by East Anglia’s only 2 Michelin star Chef Daniel Clifford, The Headley offers great traditional british dishes with a distinctive twist.

The Headley is set across two floors and can offer a comfortable retreat downstairs with sofas and seating area or upstairs where you can sit and enjoy your meal looking out onto the pretty views.
 
We offer the ideal location for business lunches, celebration parties, romantic dinners, wedding receptions as well as dining for families either during the week or for Sunday Lunch.
 
The concept of The Headley supports Daniel’s own attitude towards food and cooking where we ensure that we make the most of local produce to enhance the menus together with a very comprehensive wine list.

I found this restaurant on the EssexRestaurants.com website as I was looking for somewhere different to go for a Saturday Afternnon lunch with my wife.
I was pleasantly surprised. The Pub is a great place to have a relaxing meal and the staff are very nice and friendly.
Would I eat here again - Most definitely.

What a fantastic night! The Jazz Band were amazing and the food (sharing platters) just went so well with the atmosphere and music. Sensational night and can't wait for the next one!

Lunch with friends at The Headley was hugely successful. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs and the food was both nicely presented and delicious. The comfortable surroundings and homely ambience certainly added to our enjoyment

The Headley was recommended to me and I was delighted that my first visit was a great experience. The staff were really friendly and helpful and as for the food - fantastic! Well worth the visit and I thanked my friend for the recommendation!

I have been here several times with my boyfriend and we have always had a lovely meal and always made to feel welcome each time.
The staff are friendly and are happy to help and answer questions regarding the menu/drinks etc.
We normally go during a weekday afternoon when it is quiet, which we like as it's nice and peaceful and we can have a conversation without having to shout at each other, but i'm sure it is busier during fri and sat evenings.
Food and drinks menu is varied. From beer battered cod to pasta, pies and burgers there is a good menu on offer.
Ambience has always been good, no rock music blaring out, normally soft room music like Frank Sinatra which fits the atmosphere of the restaurant well.
Lots of parking spaces.
We have never had any complaints when coming to this restaurant. Friendly staff, great food, good atmosphere. We enjoy it. ! Highly recommended.
